Madeleine McCann was born on 12 May 2003 in Leicestershire, England. She was disappeared from holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in the Algarve region of Portugal on 3 May 2007. She was sleeping when she was kidnapped and her parents were dining 100 yards away with friends at a restaurant in Praia da Luz. When Gerry ( Madeleine's Father ) checked on the children at around 21:45, he found empty bed and the apartment door and window were wide open.Portuguese police said that they had a suspect in mind and believed the child is still alive in the area.
Her father, Gerry McCann, said, "Words cannot describe the anguish and despair that we are feeling. Please, if you have Madeleine, let her come home to her Mummy, Daddy, brother and sister."

A grand reward of £2.5 million was annouced by the The News of the World and businessmen Sir Richard Branson have jointly pledged £1.5m. Scottish tycoon Stephen Winyard has offered £1m to anyone who can help with information leading to the safe return of Madeleine McCann.
